If it’s a sleep over, a camping trip or even just something to snuggle in, nothing will make a child more comfortable than kids sleeping bags. There are so many ways to use a sleeping bag, which is why it is important that parent get their children a well made sleeping bag that is both tough and comfortable.

The most obvious purpose of having a sleeping is of course, for sleeping. There are kids sleeping bags with pillow and they are perfect for sleeping in. For those who are wondering why a child would want to sleep in a sleeping bag instead of a bed; the sleeping bag is portable, allowing a child to sleep in various locations in the house as needed, such as in their parent’s bedroom without having to squeeze in.

As mentioned above. Sleepovers are the most common event that calls for sleeping bags. These allows parents to forget about the child to bed drama and just focus more on allowing the kid to have some fun.

Travelling by road is a great way to utilize the bag. Be it in the back of an RV or a camping trailer; sleeping bags often provide more comfort that any other bed short of the one in the child’s own room or that of a good hotel. Speaking of hotels, there are people who prefer to bring sleeping bags to roadside motels –they claim that the bags are far cleaner than the sheets of the beds.

Naturally, there are kids sleeping bags for camping. Camping is the perpetual reason to get a sleeping bag for any member of the household. These bags allow one to comfortably sleep in the wild, creating that open connection with nature while keeping the user warm and comfortable.

Some of the most unique applications of sleeping bags are done at home. Sleeping bags often provide a good alternative to a blanket and pillow when staying in the entertainment room while watching a long movie. Some functions are more of need, such as having to stay in a hospital room with the family.

They say that a baby sleeping bag is one of the most important things you can get for a baby –and by “they” we are referring to various parenting books and magazines.

What makes this seemingly odd item very important is the mere fact that the baby will be sleeping inside it. Babies sleep a lot, and that’s very important to any parent. Because when the baby is asleep, the parents get to rest too. Mothers in particular have a very hard time getting rest since they usually take on the burden of raising the baby directly. In any case, a good sleeping bag will keep the baby sleeping comfortably. On the other hand, a bad sleeping bag could cause a baby discomfort which would pretty much leave the baby sleepless, stressed and worst of all, crying.

Any number of factors could be a reason for a baby to cry due to a badly designed sleeping bag. The most common is the lack of proper ventilation. Fabrics that do not naturally allow air to pass through will be very uncomfortable to the skin. This will also make the inside of the sleeping bag very hot.

Another factor is the print; baby sleeping bag patterns are not the culprit –a baby will not care if they have a cartoon character print or something by Van Gogh, what will matter is if the paint used in the print is that from a harsh chemical. While the United States does have laws regarding the types of ink to be used, there are occasional cases where in paint that has lead is being used.

If the sleeping bag has no print but is still causing a reaction, it is also possible that the fabric itself may have chemicals. Some textile fabrics are often treated with chemicals to make them firmer or softer or tougher. While these treatments rarely cause any problems, there are some babies that may be allergic to the chemicals used in the process.

So the next time you find a store with a baby sleeping bags sale, it would be prudent to check first if the bags are on sale simply because they are old stock, or if other parents have avoided the bags for other reasons.

In order to get quality sleep after your exhausting hike, you may want to purchase a sleeping bag liner. A liner is a soft cloth that you put inside a sleeping bag. These accessories provide additional warmth and protection from the cold. Additionally, they also protect your sleeping bag from bodily oils and dirt, helping your bag last longer.

A sleeping bag liner is made from a variety of materials. The available varieties are:

Silk. Silk liners work best in warm locations as they are not very good insulators. They are very comfortable as they are soft and smooth to the touch.

Fleece. Although it can get quite cumbersome to carry around fleece liners, people like them because they are soft.

Polyester. This liner can withstand most weather types as it is made of light and breathable synthetic material. You can wash this liner as often as you want.

Nylon. A nylon sleeping bag liner is a very good insulator and is waterproof.

When shopping for a sleeping bag liner, remember to buy for endurance and a good fit. Look for a liner that is made of quality fabric so you can wash it often. Get a size that fits your sleeping bag as a small liner will restrict movement and you’ll end up sleeping fitfully.

Shopping for kids’ sleeping bags can be tricky as they have an altogether different set of needs. A sure fire choice is down sleeping bags. They’re the best primarily in terms of comfort and warmth. They are great insulators so they provide maximum protection from cold weather. They are lightweight and compact so they are not cumbersome to pack. Kids’ sleeping bags made of down also last a long time.

The next thing you need to consider is style. Available varieties of kids’ sleeping bags are:

Mummy sleeping bags. These tend to fit to the contours of the body so air doesn’t easily get into them. A mummy type bag made of down is an excellent choice for cold weather areas.

Barrel sleeping bags. Barrel sleeping bags provide more elbow room and are ideal for kids who tend to move around a lot while asleep.

Novelty bags. These come in fun designs but are best for short trips and sleepovers only.

As you shop for down sleeping bags, don’t be tempted to get a size too large. This may initially be economical but remember that your primary consideration is comfort. Kids’ sleeping bags need to fit well to get as much warmth from them. Also, a bigger sleeping bag may be too heavy for him to carry.

Climbing and other outdoor explorations can take a toll on one’s body. It is true that roughing it out can be a rewarding experience but it is important to remember that in order for the body to function at optimum levels, rest should be an integral part of the camping scheme. Choosing the right sleeping bag can spell the difference between a good night’s sleep and a fitful one.

There are many sleeping bag varieties available in the market today but to a lot of outdoorsmen, down sleeping bags are still the finest kind. Compared to other sleeping bag makes, bags made of Down consistently rate high under the following criteria:

Comfort

Warmth

Size

Weight

Down sleeping bags are made of goose down so they provide a lot of comfort. They’re excellent insulators so they are able to hold in air better than other varieties. This means they are extremely efficient at providing much needed warmth during the night. If you often go climbing in cold weather areas, these sleeping bags are the best choice.

Compared to a sleeping bag made of synthetic material, a down sleeping bag is more compressible as you can fold it to half the size of a compressed synthetic bag. Down sleeping bags are also more lightweight so you can keep your pack weight to a minimum. Durability is also another advantage of these sleeping bags and with proper care and maintenance, can last years.

While sleeping bags made of down are excellent choices, they do have some disadvantages to them. Because of the material and quality within which they are made, they tend to be pricier than other types of sleeping bags. Another major drawback is that a down sleeping bag is so efficient at taking in water that it is practically rendered useless in places that have predominantly wet weather. Climbers usually don’t have enough time to spare to wait for the bag to dry.

The bottom line though, is that when you study the drawbacks against the advantages, down sleeping bags still count as a great investment. While there are other more economical choices, you may end up spending more money. It simply won’t do to keep buying new bags because your previous choices keep getting ruined. At the end of the day, all you will really care about is the quality and performance that your bag provides.
